"Discovering Runes" to be published August 2008

I have been working on a new book about runes over the last couple of years. I wanted to publish something that would be useful to both experienced runesters and to novices in a down to earth and friendly style and without getting too technical. So now I have written Discovering Runes which I hope will be an entertaining read as well as being a vital reference book for rune users of all abilities.

It is being published by Regency House in August 2008 and will be 250 glossy pages of 8x8 inches (200x200mm) with 260 full colour illustrations.

The book was originally scheduled for June, but the Chinese printing company made a couple of snafus with spelling and photographs on the wrong pages, so that first print of 8000 faulty books for Chartwell Books went to Costco in the USA where it is being sold with an errata slip at a discounted price in selected stores.

If you would like to place an advance order for a personally signed and dedicated first edition of the corrected book now at a 20% discount, click here for the order form. The discounted prices including packaging, shipping and tax are:

United Kingdom: GB£ 7.95
Europe: EC€ 14.00
USA, Canada, rest of the world: US$ 32.95

All orders that come in before the official publication date will go in a hat and I will randomly pick one lucky winner on the day of publication to receive a free book. I will acknowledge your reservation and advise you of the shipping date as soon as I get my advance copies. I will let you know who wins the free book in a future Runemaker Group Newsletter. Runezine Discontinued
If you have read the previous posting about production cut-backs you will know that my ageing body has been letting me down somewhat of late. Sadly, the Runezine ezine is another thing I have decided to give up.

I have been running the Runezine project since 2001 but it was finally closed down at the end of August.  Runezine subscribers were contacted and asked if they wanted to subscribe to a new list. If you missed out on that but would like to receive occasional email news messages from Runemaker Group, please click this link to subscribe. My sincere thanks to all Runezine readers for their support in the past, I hope everyone found it interesting and occasionally useful.

Happily, this new lighter workload seems to be having a beneficial effect and I hope to get back to a more productive habit over the next few months. My thanks to those 250 well-wishers who took the trouble to write to me personally - you know who you are. I really do appreciate your kind words and good wishes.

Production Cut-Backs
From September 2007 I will be dropping some products from the Runemaker range and suspending production of all rune sets - hopefully this latter will not be permanent, but I can't say for sure at present.

This has been a very difficult decision for me, but one that I should have made months ago,  I have simply been putting it off for too long. The fact is I have been in poor health for some time and I find it takes me a lot longer now to make a set of runes than it did in the past.

This move is a result of some long absences from the workshop and some recent difficulties with computer hardware that have soaked up too much of my available time. Consequently, many orders for rune sets and other products that should have been delivered many weeks ago are still sitting on the workbench waiting for completion.

I have therefore decided not to take on any new orders for these products until I clear the backlog and my health improves - if it ever does! People have been telling me for years I was killing myself with work and I laughed. But maybe now I am starting to believe them.

When you visit the Rune wares pages where all the products are featured you will see which ones are currently suspended. I apologise for these cut-backs and hope you will bear with me through this difficult period. If you have ordered something and are fed up waiting for delivery, just email me quoting your order number and I will of course refund your payment right away.
